Scrap Lab, founded in 2007, is a design & research center run by academic staff and students of the Faculty of Architecture at Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. It aims to develop an innovative ecological based approach towards re-processing and re-circulating industrial solid waste, construction debris and community wastes. It was found that for 1 tonne of consumer waste more than 30 tonnes of waste are generated during the production process. Clearly, these 30 tonnes of scraps represent an abundant resource, a.k.a. raw materials, for further design and production. Scrap Lab pursues comprehensive actions: research, analysis, design, prototyping and eventually product distribution and has involved several professionals in sciences, product & interior design as well as architecture |
